Interior Painting

Interior Painting

A fresh coat of paint is the fastest way to transform any room — but a truly professional paint job is about far more than colour. It's about meticulous surface preparation, choosing the right paint type and sheen for each surface, precise application techniques, and clean, crisp lines that make the finished space feel brand new.

We use premium paints from trusted brands, professional-grade tools, and time-tested techniques. Whether it's a single accent wall or a full-home repaint, every project gets the same level of care — from thorough prep work to a dust-free final walk-through.

Pricing

Starting from $2.50/sq ft for walls. Full room packages available. Price includes prep, primer, and two finish coats of premium paint.

Choosing the Right Paint

The type of paint you choose affects durability, finish quality, dry time, and maintenance. We'll help you select the best option for every surface in your home.

Latex (Water-Based) Paint

The most popular choice for interior painting, making up roughly 75% of residential paint sold. Made from synthetic polymers suspended in water, it dries quickly (1–2 hours touch-dry, recoatable in 4 hours) with low VOC — minimal odour and better indoor air quality.

Excellent colour retention that resists yellowing over time. Flexible when dry, helping resist cracking as walls expand and contract. Cleans up easily with soap and water.

100% Acrylic Paint

A premium subset of latex paint with 100% acrylic resins instead of cheaper vinyl-acrylic blends. Delivers superior adhesion, durability, and colour retention compared to standard latex.

Better resistance to moisture, making it the ideal choice for bathrooms and kitchens. More expensive but provides better coverage and significantly longer-lasting results. This is what professionals use for high-quality interior finishes.

Oil-Based (Alkyd) Paint

Creates an extremely hard, smooth, durable finish that resists wear and fingerprints. Self-levelling properties produce a smoother finish with fewer brush marks — the gold standard for trim and doors.

Longer drying time (8–24 hours between coats) and stronger odour requiring good ventilation. Tends to yellow over time in low-light rooms. Modern water-based alkyd hybrids offer the smooth finish of oil with the cleanup and low-VOC benefits of latex.

Cabinet & Trim Specialty Paint

Cabinet painting has become one of the most requested services — it dramatically transforms a kitchen at a fraction of the cost of replacement. We use cabinet-grade paints like Benjamin Moore Advance or Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane.

These self-levelling formulas are designed for the rigours of kitchen use. Process: remove doors and hardware, clean, degloss, prime with bonding primer, spray 2 coats for a factory-smooth finish. Allow 2–3 weeks of extended cure time for full hardness.

How We Paint Your Home

Surface preparation accounts for 60–80% of a professional paint job. We follow a proven process that ensures lasting results and clean lines on every project.

1

Assessment

We inspect every surface for damage, peeling, stains, and mold. We determine the right primer and paint type for each area of your home.

2

Prep & Protect

Furniture moved, floors covered with canvas drop cloths, outlets removed, tape applied. Walls washed with TSP, holes filled, cracks caulked, surfaces sanded.

3

Prime

Primer applied to bare surfaces, stains, patches, and colour changes. Tinted toward the finish colour for better coverage in fewer coats.

4

Cut In & Roll

Edges cut in with angled brush while still wet, then walls rolled in "W" pattern for even coverage. Two finish coats for consistent depth and durability.

5

Detail Work

Trim, baseboards, doors, and crown moulding painted with precision. Multiple thin coats for a smooth, drip-free finish.

6

Cleanup & Review

Tape removed at the right time for crisp lines, touch-ups completed, furniture repositioned. Walk-through inspection with you before we leave.

Paint Sheen Guide

The sheen level you choose affects durability, washability, and how imperfections show. Here's what works best for each area of your home.

F

Flat / Matte

Non-reflective, hides imperfections, deepest colour. Not washable. Best for ceilings, formal dining rooms, low-traffic spaces.

E

Eggshell

Subtle sheen, velvety appearance. Gently washable. The go-to for living rooms, bedrooms, hallways — most rooms in the house.

S

Satin

Noticeable soft sheen, highly washable and durable. Resists moisture and mildew. Best for kitchens, bathrooms, kids' rooms, high-traffic areas.

SG

Semi-Gloss

Polished and reflective, extremely durable. Shows imperfections — needs great prep. Best for trim, baseboards, doors, cabinets, crown moulding.

HG

High-Gloss

Mirror-like finish, the most durable and washable. Requires flawless surface prep. Best for accent pieces, front doors, furniture, high-end cabinets.

The SQFT Painting Difference

Prep-First Approach

We spend more time on prep than most painters spend on the entire job. Surface preparation is 80% of a great paint job — we never skip steps.

Premium Paints Only

We use Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams, and other professional-grade paints. Better coverage, better colour retention, and a finish that lasts for years.

Clean & Respectful

Canvas drop cloths, not plastic. Tape on every edge. Furniture protected, vents covered, and a thorough cleanup before we leave. Your home stays clean throughout.

Common Painting Questions

For kitchens and bathrooms, we recommend 100% acrylic paint in a satin finish. Satin is highly washable, resists moisture and mildew, and stands up well to scrubbing. It's the ideal balance of durability and aesthetics for high-humidity, high-traffic areas. For cabinets, we use specialized cabinet-grade paint like Benjamin Moore Advance.
Most interior walls need one coat of primer and two coats of finish paint. If you're making a dramatic colour change (especially light to dark or dark to light), you may need a tinted primer plus two finish coats. We always apply the correct number of coats for full, even coverage — never cutting corners to save time.
Paint only looks as good as the surface beneath it. Proper prep — filling holes, sanding, caulking gaps, cleaning grease, and priming — ensures the paint adheres properly, looks smooth, and lasts for years. Skipping prep leads to peeling, bubbling, and visible imperfections within months. Professional painters spend 60–80% of project time on preparation.
Latex paint is touch-dry in 1–2 hours and can be recoated in 4 hours. However, full cure takes 2–4 weeks depending on humidity and temperature. During this time, avoid scrubbing walls or hanging heavy items. Cabinet paint needs an extended 2–3 week cure time before heavy use — cabinets must fully harden before they can withstand daily kitchen wear.
We offer colour consultation to help you select the right palette. We always recommend testing samples on your actual walls — colours change dramatically based on room lighting and direction. North-facing rooms benefit from warm tones; south-facing rooms handle most colours well. We'll bring large samples and help you evaluate at different times of day.
